Top Bluetooth speakers 2018
How do I choose the best Bluetooth speaker?
Before we dive in to our Top Bluetooth Speakers 2018 list, let’s go over a few things.
You can be an enthusiast audiophile and have a very expensive sound system at your home or car but there are these occasions where you would have a need for a portable speaker, whether you go out with friends, join a pool party, meet friends at your patio at home, have a barbecue for your family or just watching a movie on your laptop or tablet.
There are a few things you should consider when looking for the right Bluetooth wireless speaker, size and portability, wireless range (the range which your phone/laptop/tablet would be able to communicate with the speaker), whether you can charge your device while listening to music outdoors, is it suitable for outdoors or indoors, is it waterproof and of course the price according to your budgetת but the 2 most important features to consider are:
- Sound Quality: we believe that this is priority # 1 for any Bluetooth speaker, there is no use in investing money if the device sound is poor, there are many selections of Bluetooth speakers on the market and some of them have beautiful designs, and have tons of features, but if the sound quality is bad ?!? what is the point, right?
- Battery life: priority # 2 in our eyes is the battery life because a portable device should last as long as possible especially when your desired activities aim for the outdoors and pool parties so there is no compromising on this feature as well.
So the main thing you should ask your self is what to I need it for, what activities am i going to need my Bluetooth speaker for, will me main activities be outdoors or in, do i need my speaker to be waterproof as i am engaging in a lot of pool parties or I have a pool at my back yard, do I need my speaker to be small for fit in my back pack or i can compromise on the size and just stick in the car trunk.

[table id=2 /]
The number 1 in our list of 10 Top Bluetooth speakers 2018 is the UE Boom 2 has another great feature which is it’s app that comes for the speaker, this app has the ability to connect up to 2 simultaneous devices at the same time which is great for your next out door event or back yard party, the app also has a built is equalizer and it supports connecting 2 UE Boom 2 speakers together!
This speaker also has great tap controls, these controls let you skip a song and even go backwards within a current playing song which is a capability that the older version of the UE Boom did not have.
This Bluetooth speaker can also function as decent speaker phone, you can pick up and hang up calls using the pairing button and the sound quality is quite good.
The last feature which the UE Boom 2 has is an improved waterproof over it’s former version, the old Boom was able to handle just a splash of water at best the Current UE Boom waterproof can be submerged under water up to a meter for a period of 30 minute.
The second version of the UE Boom 2 is our selection as it’s the best all around player and has all the features you would like to have in a portable Bluetooth speaker.
The sound this Bluetooth speaker provides is powerful and at the same time maintains the quality and details, it is extremely durable and is also waterproof, these features combined makes UE Boom 2 the best all around speaker and will be suitable for almost every occasion.

The runner up in our list of 10 Top Bluetooth speakers 2018 is the JBL Charge 3, it’s somewhat downside is it’s size, it is a big speaker, it will take up quite a lot of space in your backpack but it is also extremely durable and firm, but it’s overall features aside from that makes it’s size reasonable and not a real issue when choosing a portable Bluetooth speaker.
The JBL Charge 3 sound is amazing, it has the most deep and punchy bass that we’ve ever heard in a portable Bluetooth speaker and even in very high volumes it is distortion free!, I found that it sounds the best when it is horizontal on a flat surface but can also deliver great sound when standing vertically.
It packs 2 massive drivers on both ends which are exposed, this seems like a bad feature but we find that JBL did a good job, as these babies are made from durable firm carbon and rubber guard around them plus you have an additional visual feature as you see them vibrate when playing a good bass track.
The top button panel which has the obvious play, skip and pause button also has an additional JBL connect button that allows you to connect multiple JBL devices and have a stereo setup and considering the power this speaker can produce, the experience is amazing.
JBAL stated that the JBL Charge 3 waterproofing is IPX7 standard which means you can submerge the speaker under 1 meter of water for 30 minutes but we would not advice that, you can let it work near water and even splashing it won’t do it harm or even let it work in a light rain but keep it out of deep waters.
The JBL Charge also has a built in microphone for conference calls, the quality of sound of this speaker phone is pretty decent.
The JBL Charge 3 could have easily been the first in our list and give the EU Boom 2 a good fight, as a proud owner of this Bluetooth speaker I can tell you you just can’t go wrong with this one. due to it’s price, waterproof, the ability to Charge your phone while playing music and of course the most important : the sound quality and powerful and deep bass, the JBL Charge 3 is by no means my first pick.

The Fugoo Style Bluetooth Speaker is overlooked in the portable speaker market, and it shouldn’t because it packs some great features.
The Fugoo Style comes in 3 different looks and styles in forms of “jackets”: Style, Sport and rough, each option gives you a different look but also changes the protection over the speaker’s base core according to it’s name.
The base coe is qeuipped with six! elements as mentioned in the above short spec table, taking the jacket of you will see that the Fugoo Style has a tweeter and passive radiator along it’s sides plus 2 woofers on it ends which brings us to it’s best quality; the sound performance, due to it’s six element design it successfully delivers a high performing 360 degree sound, the bass/mid/high details are quite surprising and it will be suitable with almost any music genre you desire.
The Fugoo Stule also has a decent waterproof ability and it’s middle button can also answer or hang up calls as its a speaker phone as well.
Finaly, the battery file, the manufacturer states that this Bluetooth speaker will work up to 40 hours at medium volume which is quite amazing.
The Fugoo Style Bluetooth speaker might not be the best looker out there but due to it’s superb sound quality and power, it’s unmatched battery performance and it’s durability and waterproofing it is easily in our top 3 selection and you should consider it as your next portable speaker.

Bowers and Wilkins achieved exactly what they were aiming for with the B&W Zeppelin, they brought high end Hi-Fi sound to the portable speakers arena.
At the edges of the Zeppelin wireless there are 2 90mm mid rage elements and mounted on top of them are 2 25mm tweeters, the iconic shape of it’s body let’s thiese elements produce a crisp and detailed treble, overall the sound quality of the Zeppelin is amazing as besides it’s delightful mid/high sounds it delivers a very powerful and yet very controlled bass which doesn’t overpower the mid range details, pure high end sound!
Bowers and Wilkins added a Digital Signal Processor, combined with it’s dynamic EQ the Zeppelin powerful and “whole” bass remains controlled at any volume level.
The Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Bluetooth wireless speaker design is flawless and can easily blend in your living room as a piece of decorative element, it delivers a high end sound as all as expected from the Bowers and Wilkins reputation, the bass is powerful and controlled and the mid/high is close to perfect
The price of the Zeppelin wireless is it’s downsize but if you are an audiophile buff and looking for a portable speaker that will also maintain a high standard sound quality this speaker is defiantly the one you should choose.

The Bose SoundLink II is fairly good looking, it has an aluminum casing which makes it extremely durable although I would not suggest using it near water as it has no waterproofing which is a shame, also the battery life mounted on this Bluetooth speaker is somewhat average, it will play up to 10 hours where it’s similar brothers in this category will play up to 20 hours.
All the above obvious disadvantages are belittled by it’s extremely detailed and crisp sound, seriously, the Bose SoundLink II is the best sounding wireless Bluetooth speaker out there, it delivers deep and controlled bass, perfectly detailed highs and accurate mid range, most of the speakers in the same category may produce more powerful bass but have difficulty in controlling it in high volumes, the Bose SouldLink II handles that perfectly.
As mentioned above, the lack of features in the Bose SoundLink II such as waterproofing or the disappointing average battery performance can be overlooked because it is still the best sounding Bluetooth wireless speaker in the market, if you are looking for sound quality and portability, this is by far the best choise.

The UE Wonderboom Bluetooth speaker exceeds the flaws we found in it’s predecessor, the EU Roll 2, the 15 Meter wireless range was doubled to 30 meter range and the lacking bass in the Roll 2 was fixed perfectly in the Wonderboom.
UE and Logitech decided to change the look of the Roll 2 and made the Wonderboom smaller, this fact contributes the sound spread, the Wonderboom has a real 360 degree sound whereas the Roll 2 had sound coming upwards from the speaker, many speakers manufacturers claim that they deliver 360 degree sound but in fact they sound good only from a certain dergee, in the case of the UE Wonderboom it is not so.
The Wonderboom is completely water proofed, it can be submerged up to 1 meter for 30 minutes (IPX-7 Rated), and conveniently this speaker naturally floats which makes it perfect for pool parties.
The battery life of the UE Wonderboom is somewhat average, up to 10 hours in mid volume levels.
As we mentioned the sound of the UE Wonderboom has dramatically improved, it’s bass cannot compete with the JBL Charge 3 for example but the size and waterproofing are totally different.
The UE Wonderboom has overall great features, the sound is good due to it’s bass improvements over the Roll 2, it has an improved wireless range, it can connect to a second speaker, can pair 2 phones simultaneously and is fully waterproofed, so if you are looking for the best waterproofed wireless speaker that doesn’t compromise on the sound quality, this is the choice for you.

The Denon Envaya DSB-250BT is the largest of the 3 speakers manufactured by Denon but its still not that massive in size and can easily fit in your backpack, it is also water resistant, rated IP76, can be submerged under water, it is build very firmly and rough enough for the outdoors, as mentioned it is extremely durable in all seances.
The battery life on the Envaya lasts up to 13 hourse which is moer than avarage but still fairly good, the Envaya DSB-250BT’s competitors might have better battery life but the Envaya wins with it’s superb sound quality, the Envaya also alloes you to check the battery status by slightly pressing the power button.
The Denon Envaya DSB-250BT is extremely durable in it’s design and feel, it has one of the best sound quality among the small wireless Bluetooth speakers, and because of it’s powerful capabilities it can easily be suited for both indoor and outdoor parties, so if you are looking for a durable small Bluetooth speaker for both outdoor and indoor activities, this is the one for you.

The JBL Boombox is actually living up to it’s name, it a massive boom box that you can actually carry around as the vintage boombox from the 70’s, but I would not recommend doing that cause this beast will make you deaf!!
The amount of power on the JBL boombox is insane, the battery life will last up to 24 hours of playing time, and it has 2 USB ports in the rear area for charging 2 phones or i pads while playing. it also has an aux in port for connecting any legacy device that has no Bluetooth connectivity.
The boombox also has 2 sound modes; indoor and outdoor, the difference between them is that in the outdoor mode the bass is a but more emphasized but I would still go with the indoor mode even in outdoors parties because the sound is a bit more balanced and controlled in the indoor mode, I noticed that at full volume you can experience slight held back mids but it is not a deal breaker as it’s hardly noticeable plus the balance between bass and highs is amazing , overall, one of the best sounding wireless speakers i have heard.
It has 2 massive 4 inch exposed radiators on each of it’s sides which puts out some massive massive bass, it is really hard to explain in writing, just outstanding, also the fact that these radiators are exposed will give you a visual experience in heavy bass tracks, you will see them vibrating brutally.
The JBL Boombox is built like a tank and seems extremely durable plus it rated IPX7 for waterproffing, you can thow this speaker in the water without risking damaging it, it is designed to float on it’s back in the water which is perfect for beach parties.
The JBL Boombox is built like a tank, is is fully waterproofed and has all the features a Bluetooth speaker needs, it the loudest speakers in the market delivering the best bass out there.
Other than it’s price i see no downsize with this Blutooth speaker, if you are a classical music buff this speaker might not be for you, you might consider the Bowers and Wilking Zeppelin but it you listen to pop, dance, metal and heavy bass music and need an outdoor loud speaker, you will not regret buying the JBL Boombox.

The Marshall Kilburn Bluetooth speaker is designed for indoors , it has a decent battery life of up to 20 hours of play time and the battery is a replaceable one, it has no indication of when the battery is drained.
The Marshall Kilburn is not charged using a micro USB but rather charges using a regular charger like you would use on your PlayStation or laptop.
The design of this speaker is a unique one, they went for the vintage vinyl design, the mesh grill in the front of it gives it a vintage speaker feel plus it has kind of an old school guitar strap for carrying it around which can easily be taken off if not needed. the button panel on the Marshall kilburn has a vintage amp look to it, the golden knobs on it reminds me of the 70’s amplifiers, pretty cool.
The Kilburn is pretty large in size and it’s massive drivers deliver a very loud sound, it measures at around 95 decibels with almost no distortion at all.
The sound quality of this Bluetooth speaker is very good, it can handle almost all kinds of music, has a decent bass and pretty detailed mids and highs, can easily fill a large room with crisp and loud sound.
The Marshall Kilburn has one of the best sounds in Bluetooth speakers market, it’s battery life is very good and unlike other Bluetooth speakers the battery is replaceable, it has a cool retro look and a high build quality, it’s only disadvantages might be it’s weight as it is pretty heavy and it has no in or out USB charge ports and of course it lacks waterproofing.
All in all the Marshall Kilburn is a very good pick if you do not want to compromise on the sound quality and you mostly need a portable speaker for activities that doesn’t include water, you can not go wrong with this one.

The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker used to be a bit pricey, around 400$, but today you can buy in for around 150$ which made is to hard to neglect in our list.
The Onyx 4 is a bit heavy and has a comfortable handle but is not that easy to carry around, it’s portability is not so great when it comes to a Bluetooth speaker.
On it’s rear side it has a passive radiator, and a micro USB port for charging and a aux in port for hooking up legacy devices.
The battery life on the Onyx 4 is about average, it can play for up to 8 hours but as this device was designed to be an indoor stationary speaker we can over look this fact.
it’s Wireless range is very good, it can function perfectly in a range of up to 25 M with no issues due to it’s Blutooth version (4.2).
You probably asking your self why is this speaker in our list, well it came out last because of it’s lack in features like waterproofing or it’s average battery life but we still felt that this speaker cannot be ignored, the main 2 reasons we decided not to ignore the Onyx 4 Bluetooth speaker is it’s current price and it’s sound quality, you can get the Onyx 4 for about 150$ on amazon and this speaker has very good sound quality compared to it’s brothers in it’s category, it’s a heavy bass focused speaker, and if you are looking for a quality sound indoor portable speaker or even a stationary speaker for your room and your budget is around 150$, this speaker is defiantly for you.
